Sprint holds my phone number for ransom

Filed under: Technology — coretron @ 3:51 am

My phone slowly started taking longer to turn on and now just hangs on boot. I took it to the Sprint store to see if they could fix it. He said they would send it to the service center and it would cost between $50 and $150. As I was walking out the door I figured I might as well cancel my service to get revenge. After taking all my info he tells me that after I cancel I will lose my number. So now I’m stuck without a phone till the G1 comes out and I still have to pay stupid Sprint, at least I got on their cheapest plan.

  1. if you go to a new carrier they will xfer your number and cancel your service for you, do you just want your number but no service for a while?

  3. I was planing on not having a phone till I got a g1. For now I got a phone for $9.99 at the 7-11 which I can transfer my number to. Still a customer should have the ability to hold on to his number without transferring directly to another carrier.
