A new use for your pulg-in electric car

The University of Michigan is testing a system that allows not only the grid to charge an electric car, but also allows the car to power the grid during power spikes and peak usage. It could also store wind or solar energy. It provides stability to the grid. Think of it as using all the parked cars like a town uses a water tower to provide a steady cache of water from the source. It’s worth noting that while its obviously ineffective to use a gas engine to power the grid, there may be technologies in the future that are efficient enough to power your own house with your car. Who knows.
